During this adventure you'll get to drive your own dog team and spend a night with the dogs at Musher's Village. You will learn the basics of mushing, how to drive a dog team, and care for the sled dogs. Both mushers and dogs spend the night at Musher's Village where you will eat all of your meals (provided by Nature's Kennel), sleep in a yurt or cabin, and enjoy a snowshoe hike and/or sauna. No experience is necessary as you will be under the care of our fabulous, experienced guides and Tasha will also be along for the adventure. Each guest will drive her own dog team, or you can do this trip as a rider/driver where the driver has her own team and the passenger rides with a guide. We will stop several times during the trip for the rider/driver to switch positions.
Day 1: Evening at Chamberlin's Ole Forest Inn. Arrival on your own, dinner approximately 6 pm.
Day 2: 10:30 am arrival at Nature's Kennel and Dog Sledding Adventures We will get help get your gear organized for the trip, get you outfitted in our extra-warm boots, and get ready to head out on the trail. You’ll receive all the mushing instruction necessary for your 20 mile journey, meet your dog team, and pack your sleds. Please pack your gear in a soft-sided bag, 30 lb. maximum.
We will leave the kennel at approximately noon and will dog sled to Musher's Village. Upon arrival, you can help get the dogs settled and bedded with fresh straw. Then, we’ll all enjoy a hearty chili lunch before relaxing around the fire, heating up the sauna and taking a self-guided snowshoe hike. Dinner will be outside around the blazing fire where you can share your “tales of the trail”, do some stargazing, and get ready to snuggle in for the night.
Day 3: Wake up at Musher's Village and Dog Sled Back to Nature's Kennel
Good morning! In order to be sure that you have time to make your return trek to the kennel, the guides will begin feeding the dogs around 7:30 am. Breakfast for guests will be served by 9 am. You’ll have plenty of time to enjoy a hearty breakfast, re-pack your gear into your sleds and give the dogs a morning snuggle. You’ll help hook up your dog team and leave camp at approximately 11 am.
